
Next to the basketball courts was a water pump. Getting (and carrying) water is a woman's job in South Sudan and the girls here were quite capable of carrying a large water container which I myself could barely move. They worked on the pump and talked and joked, it's the main place for female get-togethers.
When I implied that I wanted to take a picture, they all turned towards me and smiled. In fact everyone was always happy to be photographed. Note that it was actually fairly bright out there but I took the picture with my phone. We were talking to the basketball coach about the need to repair the courts.
